Hazleton donations top $300,000 in one week. That's Incredible. I am wonder how many of those Xenophobics will donate money to any Charity or Fund for recovery and protect the abused Children's from Sexual Predators or Child Molesters. Do you think is worth it to fight and spend so much money on an Unconstitutional Ordinance than fight for the safety of the Children's?.

City has used half so far to defend Illegal Immigration Relief Act.
By Steve Mocarsky smocarsky@timesleader.com.

HAZLETON– As of last week, the city has received more than $300,000 in donations to the legal defense fund, and has paid out nearly half that amount in legal fees to defend the Illegal Immigration Relief Act that a federal judge struck down last week.

The city on Monday provided a print-out of the fund’s check register showing the city had $158,093.55 remaining in the fund as of July 24 – the date of the most recent deposit.
The city started the fund last fall after attorneys from the American Civil Liberties Union and other advocacy groups sued the city on behalf of Latino groups and individuals to have the Relief Act and a related ordinance declared unconstitutional.
The laws would fine landlords and suspend licenses of businesses that rent to or hire illegal immigrants and require all city tenants to register with the city and prove their citizenship or legal residency status to obtain a renter’s permit.

As of March 28, when the city had received $166,573 in donations, it paid $54,829 to Kris Kobach, one of the lead attorneys, and $15,954 to city solicitor Chris Slusser, who helped craft the ordinance.
Since then, Kobach received another payment of $60,381, and Slusser was paid another $7,582.
The city also made a $10,000 payment to Scotsdale Insurance Co. – the city’s insurance carrier – as a deductible. Scotsdale had appointed the law firm of Deasey, Mahoney & Bender to help represent the city in court.
The city also paid $1,162 to Precision Design – a public relations firm in Hazleton –for one year of Web-site hosting. Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta had a Web site designed so people could learn about Hazleton’s legal fight and make donations over the Internet.
Barletta has said he hopes people continue to donate, especially because he’s unsure whether Scotsdale would pay the plaintiffs’ legal fees if the city loses all appeals.
The city’s insurance policy covers the city’s legal fees and damages awarded, but it’s unclear whether damages would include the opposing party’s legal fees.
Lawyers for the ACLU estimated that their legal fees total more than $1 million, and that they might ask the court to instruct the city to reimburse them after the appeal process ends.
The city plans to appeal the case to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, and both sides have vowed to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court if they lose in the Third Circuit.

How Pathetic we are for not doing anything to save Children lifes. Where is those American Values and code of Ethics for those who supposedly serve and protect the Citizens?.

Former SD Legislator Arrested On Sex Charges

A former South Dakota lawmaker is accused of molesting his own foster children and legislative pages.
Ted Klaudt, 49, a Republican rancher from Walker, faces a long list of charges: eight counts of rape, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of witness tampering, sexual contact with a person under 16, and stalking.
Court documents mention five possible victims. Three were foster children between the ages of 15 and 19 who lived with Klaudt's family. One is a cousin of one of those girls, and the fifth is a friend of Klaudt's daughter.
In the most disturbing accusation, the girls say Klaudt had them convinced they could earn up to $20,000 by donating their eggs to a fertility clinic. And even though he has no medical training, the girls say Klaudt did all the supposed "exams" and "procedures" himself.
Former State Representative Ted Klaudt is accused of manipulating, molesting, intimidating and threatening teenage girls who the state of South Dakota paid him to raise.
Lou Raguse: Ted what do you have to say about these charges?
Klaudt: No comment.
Lou: All your voters over the years? What do you want them to know?
Klaudt: (no response)

The first victim to come forward told investigators Klaudt offered to earn her enough money to pay for college by helping her donate her eggs to a fertility clinic. She says Klaudt used a fake email address from the supposed clinic agent to trick her into letting him perform what's supposed to be a surgical procedure.

The victims say Klaudt touched them while they were foster children at his home here in Walker. But the girls say the molestation also happened in Pierre during legislative sessions while some of them also served as pages.
Five different girls now say Klaudt did things ranging from manual "breast exams" to the painful procedure of actually going inside of them with a speculum and collecting body fluids. The girls say when they cried, Klaudt gave them a beer and told them to toughen up.
Lou: Ted, do you deny the accusations?
Klaudt: (no response)

He's not telling us anything. But when investigators questioned him in February. He admitted to much of what the girls allege, including sending messages from the fake email account. Klaudt told investigators the girls asked him to help them donate the eggs. But he admits never sending off a specimen.

Inside his home, investigators found Klaudt's briefcase filled with all the tools the girls say he used in his supposed "exams."
The charges reflect alleged crimes against two of the five girls. The most serious of the crimes, 2nd degree rape, carries up to 50 years in prison.

Friday, Klaudt's bail was set at $100,000 on the Hughes County charges. He was taken to jail, where he'll be held until he can make bail.

Outrageous and Unspeakable crime. Where is Billy, Lou Dobbs, Tom Tancredo stand on these issue. Why they are not collecting funds for those unprotected children's rather than collecting funds base on Xenophobia against Undocumented Workers. How many Kids are we talking about? This is epidemic problem or it's just a heavy wave of Child molesters, sexual predators, and Xenophobics?

SAN DIEGO — A former respiratory therapist pleaded guilty Tuesday to molesting young, brain-damaged patients at the hospital where he worked for 25 years.

Wayne Albert Bleyle, 55, admitted to eight counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child and four counts of exhibiting a minor in pornography.
Under a plea agreement, Bleyle would serve 45 years and eight months in prison. With credit for good behavior, he would serve at least 85 percent of that sentence.

Bleyle, who worked at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, answered procedural questions in a firm, quiet voice.
Superior Court Judge Kenneth So denied bail and scheduled sentencing for July 25.

Bleyle was arrested in March 2006 after authorities traced child porn Internet traffic to his home computer in suburban Santee. Prosecutor Laura Gunn told a judge then that Bleyle targeted children who were "the most brain-damaged, most comatose, most nonverbal — children who could never say anything about it."
Bleyle confessed to federal agents that he molested "countless" disabled patients, the prosecutor told the court last year.
"One of the agents who interviewed him said, 'How many kids are we talking about?'" Gunn said. "The defendant, who was in New York at the time looking out at the snow, looked out at the snow and said, 'How many snowflakes are there out there?'"
Bleyle worked at the well-regarded hospital for 25 years, including 10 at the convalescent facility. Former colleagues have described him as an engaging, hardworking therapist who volunteered for extra shifts, reassured parents and served as a mentor to new hires.
Affidavits filed in support of search warrants indicate that investigators found images on Bleyle's computer and cell phone that he had created himself using children at the hospital. His arrest prompted the hospital to ban camera phones in the convalescent unit and require that curtains around patients be left open most of the time.
Barely a month after Bleyle's arrest, another hospital employee was charged with molesting a comatose toddler patient. Christopher Alan Irvin, a 32-year-old nurse at the time, pleaded guilty in September and was sentenced to 14 years and eight months in prison.

Female Inmate Faces Charges After Allegedly Having Sex With Arizona Jail Officers

YUMA, Ariz. — Sheriff's officials in Yuma County are asking for felony charges against a female inmate who allegedly had sex with three sheriff's detention officers.
The detention officers were arrested last month and have been charged with felonies for alleged incidents with four inmates over several months. They are no longer employed by the sheriff's office.
Deputies brought inmate Shannon Rose, 32, to Yuma Justice Court on Tuesday, where she made an initial appearance on seven felony charges of unlawful sex acts by a prisoner. The Yuma County Attorney is expected to decide by Friday if she should be formally charged.
Sheriff's Capt. Eben Bratcher said three other female inmates are involved. He said the investigation was ongoing and a decision on possible charges has not yet been made.
"There is still more for us to find out," Bratcher said.

According to court records, Rose admitted to having oral sex with at least three detention officers during her nine months at the Yuma County jail.

Court records said Rose admitted to passing sexually explicit notes to the detention officers, which eventually led to having conversations with them.

Rose was serving a 315-day sentence when the alleged crimes with the detention officers happened. She was scheduled to be released in less than three weeks.

Rose admitted to at least 12 sexual acts with detention officers, court records indicated.

Former officer Justin Herrera, 26, has been charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct by a corrections officer.
Jose Espinoza, 26, has been charged with six counts of unlawful sexual conduct by a corrections officer, sexual assault and kidnapping. Kenneth Smith, 34, was charged with one count of sexual assault and three counts of unlawful sexual conduct by a corrections officer.

Strange crime. Woman Sought in NYC Genital-Mutilation Death
NEW YORK — Even for seasoned detectives, the crime scene in an apartment last weekend was horrific: A man, gagged and handcuffed, had been killed and then castrated.
On Monday, police were investigating whether Eric Goodridge's mentally disturbed stepdaughter lured him to her home and attacked him there to avenge a history of sexual abuse.
Investigators believe the suspect, Brigitte Harris, "did it," said a law enforcement official. "We are trying to determine why."

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Harris had not been arrested or charged, said police were checking reports that Goodridge, 55, may have abused Harris as a child. Detectives were hoping to question the 26-year-old suspect at a hospital mental ward where she was admitted after the slaying, the law enforcement official said.

Police also were seeking a search warrant to comb the suspect's computer files for clues about a motive. On her MySpace.com home page, she referred to herself as The Original Dark Angel and listed her mood as "depressed."
An attorney representing Harris did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment Monday.

A woman identified by the Daily News as Goodridge's former mother-in-law called him a good father.
"I would die if I could believe that," she said when asked if he had harmed Harris.

Police said it was unclear how Goodridge, who was from the West African nation of Liberia and lived in Staten Island, ended up at his stepdaughter's top-floor apartment in a three-family home in the Rockaways section of Queens. When officers were summoned there at about 1 p.m. Saturday, they discovered his mutilated body; Harris was missing.
The victim had been bound with duct tape, handcuffed and strangled before having his penis sliced off, police said. The medical examiner determined he died from "homicidal violence," including gagging and neck compression.
Police immediately began searching for Harris and learned she had checked into a hospital for psychological treatment.

The Bravery Award should be for Cpl. Brendan Hartigan from the Sheriff Department of Durham, N.C. He really gets tough with sex offenders and real criminals. I am hoping that other Cities Implement his program.

Durham, N.C. gets tough with sex offenders.
By John Stevenson
The Herald-Sun

DURHAM, N.C. — Indictments against improperly registered sex offenders are at a record high in Durham — thanks to improving local enforcement procedures and recently toughened state laws.

Four indictments for the felony crime were returned in last week's grand jury session alone, on top of a half dozen in the session before that.
"There's a lot of sex offenders out there," said Cpl. Brendan Hartigan of the Sheriff's Office, who is laboring to streamline enforcement mechanisms in Durham.
Between 250 and 280 Durham sex offenders are on the registration rolls at any given time, according to Hartigan.

As of late last week, five were women.

"It's definitely very rewarding," Hartigan said of his relatively new assignment. "I've had a lot of good jobs for the sheriff, but this is the best so far. It clearly involves public safety. I can go home at the end of the day and feel good about it."
In fact, public safety is the paramount goal of the registration program, which first was enacted in North Carolina in 1996, then revised in 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2006.
Convicted sex offenders must register with their local sheriff upon release from prison. If they receive probation, registration is required immediately.

Their names and addresses are published on a state-operated Web site so people will know where they are.
Each registration lasts for 10 years. Repeat offenders must sign on for life.

"There is pretty much a no-tolerance rule about this," said prosecutor Jan Paul, who runs a family protection unit in the Durham County District Attorney's Office.

"There aren't many, if any, excuses for not registering properly," Paul added. "One of the main reasons is so members of the public will know when convicted sex offenders are living in their neighborhoods. It's a very important community-protection measure. As they say, knowledge is power. It's important for the public to be informed."
Under the most recent registration law, sex offenders must report in person to the Sheriff's Office twice a year. Before, they had to report only once a year, and they often could do so in writing.
In addition, the latest law allows friends or relatives of sex offenders to be prosecuted if they attempt to hide a convicted person who isn't properly registered.

Officers may photograph offenders whenever their appearance changes -- if they grow a new beard or experience a noticeable gain or loss in weight, for example.

Even killers are not subjected to such stringent scrutiny when they leave prison.

But senior Assistant District Attorney Tracey Cline said the registration program is necessary because of the special "compulsion" that motivates sex offenders.

"When a person is a convicted sex offender, it's totally different from someone convicted of robbery, selling drugs or even murder," said Cline. "Sex offenders have a compulsion to do what they do. There is treatment for it, but sometimes it doesn't work. Parents need to know where these people are so they can protect their children."
According to some defense attorneys, the registration program unnecessarily violates the privacy of defendants and potentially interferes with their rehabilitation.
Cline disagrees.

"Clearly, the privacy interests of a person are important, even if he is a convicted criminal," she said. "But in these [sex offender] cases, the protection of the public obviously outweighs the defendants' privacy. If you know you have a sex offender living across the street, you're going to keep your eye on your 6- or 7-year-old when they go out in the yard to play."
John Fitzpatrick, president of the Durham Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, echoed that sentiment.

"When you're convicted of a sex crime, you should lose certain liberties," he said. "Children must be protected. If truth be told, public safety is more important than a defendant's right to privacy."

The pertinent state Web site shows that only six of North Carolina's 100 counties have more registered sex offenders than Durham's 237. Those counties are Cumberland at 359, Forsyth at 371, Gaston at 262, Guilford at 494, Mecklenburg at 569 and Wake at 586.
Neighboring Orange County has 70 registrants, while Person County has only 46, according to the Web site.

Big Brother busted in sex assault rap: Teen praised for reporting claim to cops. Should be running a background check for all Members of Big Brothers Big Sister program?.
By Laurel J. Sweet
Friday, July 27, 2007

Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley is lauding the bravery of a 13-year-old boy who delivered to Boston police a Big Brother he alleges sexually molested him while trying to get him drunk and show him porn.
“This young victim was very brave to come forward,” Conley said yesterday. “Too often, children in his position blame themselves for what others have done to them.”
Bryan Horgan, 41, of Dorchester, a data processor for the Boston Transportation Department, was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail Wednesday by Judge James W. Coffey of the Dorchester Division of Boston Municipal Court. However, a Superior Court judge yesterday shaved his bail down to $20,000.
Horgan remained incarcerated last night, according to an official at Nashua Street Jail.
Prosecutors said Horgan, a mentor to the boy from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, brought the teen to his home Tuesday and tried to serve him alcohol. The teen refused.
Prosecutors said the resistant youth was sexually assaulted by the accused while he tried to show him pornography. An allegedly drunk Horgan drove him home and “told the boy not to say anything about what had transpired,” prosecutors said.
The teen immediately told his mother what had happened and Horgan was arrested
.

A search of his home at 381 Adams St. by investigators “recovered evidence that included photographs of other young teens, videos, alcohol and a personal computer,” prosecutors said.
A spokesman for Big Brothers Big Sisters could not immediately be reached for comment.
Horgan, who faces charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, assault with intent to rape a child under age 16 and dissemination of matter harmful to minors, is due back in court Aug. 15.

Sex offender admits working at school as city election judge
COURT | Gets 18 months; name among 10 on list

July 26, 2007
BY ERIC HERMAN Staff Reporter eherman@suntimes.com
A registered sex offender pleaded guilty this week to violating the law by working as an election judge at a Chicago public school.
Tyrone Barber, 57, drew an 18-month sentence Tuesday from Judge Bertina Lampkin for violating the Sex Offender Registration Act, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Lynn McCarthy.

Barber, of the 8000 block of South Parnell, was convicted in 1990 of sexually assaulting a child, McCarthy said. State law prohibits sex offenders from entering school zones.
For the Feb. 27 city election, Barber worked as an election judge at John Hope Preparatory High School in the 5500 block of South Lowe. The polling place is in the 3rd Ward.
"Classes were in session on Feb. 27, 2007, and the defendant was physically present within the school when children under the age of 18 were also present," McCarthy said.

There was, however, "no evidence that he had direct contact with kids," she said.

In April, prosecutors charged sex offender Arnulfo Vallejo with working as an election judge on the grounds of a school. The Board of Elections then compared its list of judges with the Illinois sex offender registry and found nine more matches, including Barber.
Vallejo's case is pending, McCarthy said. Another sex offender, Troy Jordan, pleaded guilty in June and drew a one-year sentence. None of the other election judges had worked on school grounds.
Election judges made $150 in April for working Election Day and attending a training session.

Decision receives Obama’s attention. A Victory for all Americans. Know Mr. Barletta should spend his time in something constructive.
By L.A. TARONE Standard Speaker.

The decision on Hazleton’s Illegal Immigration Relief Act continues to get attention from presidential contenders.

In a statement issued by his campaign, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama praised U.S. District Judge James Munley’s decision Thursday, calling it a “victory for all Americans.”
“The anti-immigrant law passed by Mayor Barletta was unconstitutional and unworkable – and it underscores the need for comprehensive immigration reform so local communities do not continue to take matters into their own hands,” Obama, a contender for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, said.
He said he believed that the attempt to enact the law was a reaction to what he considered congressional failure on the issue of immigration. And he made a pitch for what supporters have referred to a comprehensive immigration reform.
“Recently, the U.S. Senate failed the American people by blocking progress on immigration reform for the second time in two years,” Obama said. “We cannot put this off any longer. The ongoing problems with our immigration system are dividing our country, and distracting us from the work we need to do in other important areas such as health care, education and jobs.”
The comprehensive package Obama supported ran into a firestorm of controversy, with opponents calling it “amnesty.” A similar proposal ran into similar problems last year and also failed.
Polls show Obama running behind New York Sen. Hilary Clinton in the race for the Democrat nomination.
Obama is the second presidential contender to comment on Hazleton’s ordinance.
Republican Fred Thompson came down on the city’s side Thursday.
The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission also reacted to Munley’s decision Friday.
“Judge Munley’s decision underscores the position of the Human Relations Commission and other supportive groups have been taking all along,” PHRC Chairman Stephen Glassman said in a release. “Legislation such as this ordinance, premised as it is on the biases and fears of certain individuals, is inconsistent with basic Constitutional protections available to all, irrespective of their ‘status’ in the country. Legitimate concerns about immigration, as the Judge correctly noted, must be addressed by the federal government.”
The statement urged “leaders in the Hazleton community” to “speak out in an effort to end the divisiveness caused by the ordinances just found to be unconstitutional.”
Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman T.J. Rooney, a former state representative from Allentown, also lauded Munley’s decision.
“This decision should serve as a reminder that while local municipalities have no authority or jurisdiction over immigration issues, we should also be very hesitant to condemn individuals that came to the United States to improve their lives and the lives of their children,” Rooney said.
Rooney’s statement added Democrats would “continue welcoming Latinos and other immigrants into the Party as valuable members of our society.”
“Latinos today are facing the same struggles that our Irish, German, Italian, Polish and Greek ancestors faced, to name a few,” he said. “Today, America represents the very best of every nationality. Latinos should be afforded the same opportunities that other immigrants had when they came to the United States to become productive American citizens.”

BREAKING NEWS: JUDGE STRIKES DOWN HAZLETON ORDINANCE
Thursday, 26 July 2007
By WADE MALCOLM
Staff Writer

A federal judge has struck down the Illegal Immigration Relief Act, ruling Hazleton's proposed crackdown on landlords and employers doing business with illegal immigrants is unconstitutional.

In a 206-page opinion, U.S. District Judge James M. Munley stated, "Federal law prohibits Hazleton from enforcing any of the provisions of its ordinance" aimed at expelling illegal immigrants.
"Whatever frustrations ... the city of Hazleton may feel about the current state of federal immigration enforcement, the nature of the political system in the United States prohibits the city from enacting ordinances that disrupt a carefully drawn federal statutory scheme," Munley wrote.

The ruling comes about four months after a nine-day trial concluded in Scranton federal court and a little more than a year since city council passed the ordinance punishing businesses that hire and landlords who rent to illegal immigrants. A separate provision making English the official language was written into a different ordinance and dropped from the lawsuit.
A previous court order issued by Munley has put Hazleton's ordinance on hold since November. Today's decision is expected to be appealed to Third Circuit Court in Philadelphia.
Hundreds of the municipalities around the country - and at least two dozen in Northeastern Pennsylvania - have considered or enacted laws mimicking the Hazleton ordinance, believed to have been the first of its kind passed in the country.

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta proposed the ordinance in response to the high-profile May 10, 2006, murder of 29-year-old Derek Kichline, allegedly shot in the head by two illegal immigrants. But charges in the case were dropped earlier this month.

While many Hazleton residents applauded Barletta's stance, much of the city's large Latino population - estimated to be about 10,000 and growing - immediately reacted in protest, gathering on the steps of city hall the night the ordinance passed wearing shirts reading, "I'm Hispanic, not a criminal."

The American Civil Liberties Union and other advocacy groups challenged the ordinance in federal court on behalf of several residents and community groups, arguing it would lead to civil rights violations against Latinos and conflict with the federal government's sole authority to regulate immigration.

During the trial in March, Barletta, who was catapulted to nationally prominence when he proposed the ordinance in June 2006, testified that his city is besieged by gangs, graffiti and crime because of illegal immigrants. He acted for the good of all legal residents, he has said.

"I'm disappointed the judge didn't realize this city needs to defend itself," said Barletta, who had not yet seen Munley's opinion this afternoon but was about to meet with his legal team to "digest" the decision.

In his decision, Munley contended that all people must be protected regardless of their legality. The ordinance could harm legal residents of the community as well, he ruled.
"The genius of our Constitution is that it provides rights even to those who evoke the least sympathy from the general public," he wrote. "Hazleton, in its zeal to control the presence of a group deemed undesirable, violated the rights of such people, as well as others within the community."
As he has in the past, Barletta vowed again this afternoon to appeal the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
"I'm not ready to lose," he said. "We're not only fighting for Hazleton. We are fighting for cities across the country." .
Apparently Lou Barletta doesn't want to focus on his duties. Mr. Barletta, just bring together the citizens of that city rather than create confrontation, anger against other ethnicity's. They are great issues and, concerns that are more relevant than just Undocumented Immigration or you just trying to be a populist bigotry personality.
He said he is amuse for the decision.. blah, blah, blah. Hate and emotion do not produce good laws.

Ya Basta. Enough is enough. The concerns that The National Council of la Raza stated that the Wave of Hate it has been a treat for most Latinos in U.S. and Worldwide is true.
Basta, Basta. Enough is enough of hearing those xenophobics, Extremist and racists like Lou Dobbs.
Apparently Lou is on denial stage about La Raza mentioned that the Immigration bill failed do to a Wave of Hate. That's a correct statement Lou. The Wave of hate that you fuels against Latinos specially Mexicans using your violent and angered tone of voice when you talking about or against Mexicans and Hispanics.
This is for Lou Dobbs.

Lou why you are in denial stage when most of your guests are Racist, Extremist, and Xenophobics against latinos specially Mexicans.
This is the list of of sources or names has been appear on Lou Dobbs show. Just to name a few otherwise I will never finished.

Senator Robert Byrd, Glenn Spencer, Rep Steve King, Casey Wian, Pat Buchannan, Madeliene Cosman, Chris Simcox, Tom Tancredo, Jim Gilchrist, CCR(Council of conservative citizens), Numbers USA, Minuteman Groups,Project USA, Voice of Citizens, Lawyers not specialized on Immigration, Unknown specialized personalities, and the list goes on and on.

Here is what the National Council of La Raza -- the biggest U.S. Hispanic organization -- should do at its annual meeting in Miami this week: draw from the experience of blacks and Jewish Americans by launching an all-out campaign to expose anti-Latino bigots in the media, entertainment and politics.

The recent immigration debate in the Senate, which ended with the defeat of a bill that would have given a path to citizenship to many of the 12 million undocumented workers, has given way to the biggest explosion of anti-Hispanic sentiment I have seen since I arrived in this country three decades ago.

Most Hispanics feel the same way. A new nationwide poll by Bendixen and Associates says 76 percent of U.S. Hispanics agree with the statement that "anti-immigrant sentiment is growing in the United States," and 62 percent say this phenomenon has directly affected them or their families.

Few Hispanics believe statements by rabid anti-immigration radio and television hosts who say they only oppose "illegal immigration." When asked what fuels the current anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States, 64 percent of Hispanics in the poll mentioned one factor: "racism against immigrants from Latin America."

Indeed, in recent times we have heard statements on radio and television that go far beyond the boundaries of fair debate over the need to fix the U.S. immigration system, and that twist the facts in ways that make it difficult to believe in the good faith of those who make them.

It's not just what fearmongers such as CNN's Lou Dobbs or radio talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage allow to be said in their shows, which systematically blame Hispanics for many of America's ills. Prominent academics such as Harvard University political scientist Samuel Huntington are getting away with sweeping statements such as "America's Latino immigration deluge ... constitutes a major potential threat to the cultural and possibly political integrity of the United States."

While the 44 million Hispanics are the biggest minority in America, you don't see the kind of nationwide protests, legal actions or calls for boycotts on a scale that you would probably see if these statements were directed against blacks or Jewish Americans.
When you visit the Web site of the NAACP, one of the first things you see is an 'NAACP 'Stop' Campaign" headline, which is a call to action against racism in the media.
The NAACP and other black groups regularly launch name-and-shame campaigns, and most recently forced the firing of radio host Don Imus over an April comment calling the Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos."

The Jewish Anti-Defamation League has been exposing racism in the media since 1913.

But when you go to The National Council of La Raza's Web site, you don't find a similar emphasis on fighting bigotry. The group's main theme is "Ya es hora!," a voter registration drive conducted alongside the Spanish-language Univision network and other Latino organizations aimed at adding 2 million Hispanic votes for the 2008 election.
La Raza President Janet Murguia conceded in an interview Friday that Hispanics need to do more to fight back against bigotry in the media.
"We do need to rethink our strategy; there is no question about it," Murguia told me.

"But the key change that we need to focus on is to make sure that we can influence the outcome of elections. Getting madder doesn't necessarily help, but getting smarter will help."
My opinion: The National Council of La Raza and its sister institutions are doing the right thing with their "Ya es hora!" citizenship drive. But they should also launch a nationwide "Ya basta!" campaign to identify, name and shame those who systematically bash Hispanics.
If anti-Hispanic sentiment is allowed to keep growing, we will soon have an underclass of 12 million immigrants that will feel not only frustrated by not having a legal path to citizenship but increasingly insulted by the mainstream media.
And social exclusion mixed with frustration can be a dangerous cocktail, as we've seen in the violent 2005 riots by Muslim youths in the suburbs of Paris.

3 Illegal Immigrants Killed by unknown Gunmen (?? Minuteman Groups what are you guys doing?) in Arizona Smuggling Corridor, Some Taken Captive.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Gunmen stopped a pickup truck of illegal immigrants, shot some and took the rest captive Thursday in an attack that left at least three men dead and two people wounded, authorities said.

Authorities were trying to determine who the gunmen were and said some of the immigrants remained missing.
The men shot three people, one fatally, along a known smuggling corridor near Tucson, then forced several other immigrants in the group to leave with them, Pima County sheriff's officials said.

The bodies of two of those immigrants were found about 10 miles north in the cab of the pickup truck that had been carrying the group.

Two men who were not injured were in custody and telling deputes what happened, and the other immigrants had not been found by midday Thursday.

The crime was similar to a robbery Wednesday night more than 70 miles south, near the Mexican border, said Rick Kastigar, the Pima County sheriff's criminal investigations chief. In that incident, four men carrying assault weapons and wearing ski masks robbed 18 immigrants, but no one was reported injured.
Investigators did not immediately know a motive for Thursday's attack, but gangs of bandits are known to roam border areas preying on illegal immigrants as they cross into the country. Feuding among smuggling organizations also is not uncommon, sometimes involving demands for ransoms from the immigrants relatives to gain their freedom.
Thursday morning's attack occurred on a dirt road near the Silverbell Mine, about 20 miles northwest of Tucson, said Rick Kastigar, the Pima County sheriff's criminal investigations chief.

The immigrants were heading north when four men armed with assault rifles in another vehicle forced the truck to stop, Kastigar said. During the confrontation, one man was killed, another was shot in the hand — losing several fingers — and a woman was shot in the chest and suffered a neck injury.
The two wounded immigrants were taken to a hospital with "very, very serious injuries," said sheriff's Sgt. James Ogden.

It appears that none of the Republican presidential candidates either Xenophobics, Racists and bigotries have respect for the words on the Statue of Liberty, as all would take harsh measures against immigrants. It also seems that they are willing to ignore the damaging effects of the North American Free Trade Agreement, despite the defeat of nearly every Republican candidate in races last fall in which free trade and fair trade were issues.

In Mexico, farm crises, sweatshop wages and police repression drive workers and farmers to leave family, friends and country in search of jobs to support their families. The Republicans alternately offer silence and demagogy, neither of which will solve the problems caused by unjust trade agreements and corporate exploitation of immigrants.
In the National Catholic Reporter (November 2005), Bishop Alvaro Ramazzini, president of the Bishop’s Secretariat of Central America, wrote, “People who wonder why there is such passionate opposition to the Central America Free Trade Agreement — an expansion of the 1993 North American Free Trade Agreement to six more nations — need look no further than the results of NAFTA in Mexico during the last decade. NAFTA displaced 1.5 million Mexican peasant farmers. Many of these displaced farmers sought industrial jobs, causing Mexican wages to drop by 20 percent. Communities and families were torn asunder as those who lost their livelihoods undertook the perilous journey to the United States in hopes of finding some way to support their family.”
In 2002 alone, 600 Mexican farmers per day were forced off the land due to NAFTA, by U.S. agribusiness dumping subsidized food exports on Mexico. Even though Mexico produces corn cheaper, U.S. corporate agriculture is able to price its corn lower because of subsidies of billions paid for by our tax dollars. In the past five years, more than 1,600 Mexican migrants have lost their lives in their attempts to find jobs in the U.S.
Conditions are similar in other nations. Brazil and Guatemala can grow and harvest sugar cheaper than the U.S. African nations produce cotton at one-fifth the U.S. cost. Yet U.S. agribusiness subsidies ruin honest work. Even U.S. small farmers suffer when subsidies go to agribusiness rather than to family farms.

Journalist David Bacon writes of the impact of NAFTA on Mexico: “Privatization increased prices of necessities and reduced real wages to disastrous levels. Mexican salaries were a third of those in the U.S. in the 1970s. They are now less than an eighth. It is this disparity which both impoverishes Mexican workers and acts as an immigration magnet. Over the last two decades, the income of Mexican workers has lost 76 percent of its purchasing power. Under pressure from foreign lenders, the Mexican government has ended subsidies on the prices of basic necessities, including gasoline, electricity, bus fares, tortillas and milk, which have risen dramatically.”

Repression in Latin America has brought immense corporate profits for more than a century. Under NAFTA repression continues and according to many reports has worsened. A 1997 report of a veterans’ delegation to southern Mexico by Bill Motto VFW Post 5888 in Santa Cruz, Calif., cites increased U.S. involvement in Mexico’s militarization and the repression of Mexico’s poor and indigenous. The VFW post adopted a resolution calling for an end to all U.S. military and security assistance to Mexico, and supporting genuine democratization and self-determination for the people of Mexico. The report charged that the “vast majority of equipment, used by the Mexican military and the various security forces of police and paramilitary units, is made and supplied by the United States. One could argue that the only thing Mexican about the Mexican army and security forces is the soldier/policeman himself.” The “war on drugs” has been the pretext.

Since NAFTA went into effect in 1994, 19 million Mexican workers and farmers fell into poverty, and some 5 million came to the U.S. in search of work. If, instead, an agreement was reached that lifted the 19 million out of poverty, there would be very few willing to risk life and limb to migrate. Those immigrants who are now working in the U.S. — and their families — should be given a path to citizenship, and NAFTA should be replaced by a fair trade policy.

Polk County Sting Nabs 25 Men for Soliciting Sex with Minors

POLK COUNTY -- Polk County undercover detectives, along with agents from other law enforcement agencies, arrested 22 men over the weekend in their 3rd go around of "Operation Guardian"
The undercover operation, which began 2 weeks ago, started with deputies talking to the suspects over the internet posing as children. The men were invited to a home in Polk County this past weekend to meet with what they thought would be children for sexual encounters.
Instead they were greeted by undercover officers, who arrested them for soliciting sex from a child.
"They tell us stories, said Sheriff Grady Judd, "I came here to tell the child how dangerous this was. We all know that's not true."
Among those arrested, a youth hockey coach from Orlando, a volunteer firefighter, and Joseph Cioffi, a former Marion County Sheriff's Deputy who now works with Homeland Security.
Sasha Barber, and Orlando youth soccer coach, was arrested Monday at 11:30 am, after news broke of the sting. 2 other suspects were arrested today.

Most of those arrested are from central Florida, but the group also includes Clifford Burdick, an air condtioning repairman from St. Petersburg.

"It's obvious that these deviants never learn," said Judd, "and its disappointing to know we have arrested child predators who come from public service industries."

Lou Dobbs Fuels American Immigration Paranoia.
Evelyn Shih
The Yale Herald,

"Tonight," announced Lou Dobbs at the top of his show on Mon., Mar. 21, "illegal alien invasion."
Should we, and Lou's half-a-million daily viewers, pull out our machetes and join the Minutemen project, patrolling the Arizona border for cold-blooded illegal aliens?
Dobbs has been using his soapbox on CNN, Lou Dobbs Tonight, to sow sensless paranoia in the viewing public. Whether he's reporting on outsourcing—the "assault on the American middle class"—or the issue of illegal immigration from Latin America—the "illegal alien invasion"—Dobbs seeks to isolate the United States from menacing "them." "Feel violated," he drones into the nation's airwaves every weekday evening. Feel angry, mistreated, and afraid.
He is winning national awards for his work. Among other accolades, Dobbs received the 2004 Eugene Katz Award for Excellence in the Coverage of Immigration and the Man of the Year Award from The Organization for the Rights of American Workers. True, no one can fail to give Dobbs credit for bringing two important issues into national political discussion. By single-mindedly pursuing two topics and making them permanent segments on his news show, Dobbs has amassed a remarkable collection of coverage on the subjects. But something seems amiss when the "Broken Borders" series begins to blame every single problem plaguing American society—from terrorism to education—on illegal immigrants. As recently as the Tues., Mar. 29 show, Dobbs claimed that the public school systems are "losing their battles" because they have been "inundated with illegal immigration."

In between the dry segments of news and peppered rhetoric, Lou Dobbs peddles a latent racist agenda that is an easy trap in today's global economy. A typical debate on Dobbs' show is as follows: "A few generations ago, you'd be talking about the Irish flooding our schools and breaking down the educational standard," said Dobbs' guest Cesar Perales, president and general counsel for the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund. Dobbs replied: "Too many people, it seems to me, are coming to this as a racial issue rather than as a social or an American issue that's fundamental to understanding of what is in our national interest."
Lou Dobbs is in a serious state of denial. His rhetoric is filled with antagonistic sound-bytes about "alien invasions" and "inundations." How could anyone have the "temerity" to speak out in defense of "porous borders"?
How could banks offer aliens home loans and how could realtors sell them houses as if they had a right to even breathe American air? Why, this is simply "madness."

On an international level, the gap between rich and poor nations has become devastatingly wide. The United States is not the only country seeing a large influx of illegal immigration; Western Europe is also facing a similar dilemma. The economic elite need cheap manual labor but turn their noses at the idea of naturalizing the inferior masses as citizens. Those aliens want to be Americans? Like us? In our neighborhoods, our supermarkets, our very workplaces?

With the arrival of the so-called outsourcing dilemma, foreigners no longer only threaten to infiltrate American markets, but also to terrorize our livelihoods. If Dobbs is correct, they will soon make our skills irrelevant and Americans will go hungry. Like our nose-diving currency, we are under assault from people who don't understand our way of life and who are fundamentally different. What should bother us—not only as Americans, but as human beings—is that Dobbs implies that there are people who have a right to certain work, and there are others who do not. If you are not born American, then you were born a have-not. Aliens don't deserve something that is fundamentally American.

In this day and age, globalization has made that nationalistic claim obsolete. There is no group of people who can claim exclusive rights to any sort of mass-scale, multi-national work. As the world gets smaller, the American dream of self-betterment no longer belongs exclusively to Americans.
As a Taiwanese-American who lived for several years in Taiwan, I have witnessed firsthand the fierce competition between nations within the global economy. Taiwan developed into an Asian tiger economy long before China became the world's rising economic star. But when we entered the new millennium, the manufacturing of cheap goods became an increasingly irrelevant industry in Taiwan. Even the high-tech industry wasn't safe from the ravenous Chinese job market. Paranoia ensued: What are we to do? Are we going to starve? Are we going to be swallowed whole by the mainland?
Taiwan's financial difficulties are far from over, but the attitude in Taiwan is slowly switching from hysteria to pragmatism. Industry leaders have begun to seek niches in high-tech research, development, and creative design. The semiconductor manufacturing companies responsible for Taiwan's quick rise have moved swiftly to diversify their services.

The Chinese may be political enemies to some in Taiwan and economic enemies to some in America, but in the end, they just do some things better and cheaper. So does India—Dobb's other scapegoat for the "assault" on the American middle class. Instead of pointing fingers, America's best and brightest should be looking for new ways to shine. And if the American middle class is not hopelessly complacent and incompetent, as Dobbs seems to believe, it will also reinvent itself. I have faith that American society can reassert its resilience, just like the Taiwanese have.
Competition between people of different races, cultures, and nationalities is a natural result of globalization. It is a challenge, not a menace. I hope America will rise to meet this challenge instead of piling accolades at the feet of those, like Lou Dobbs, who make their living by blaming bad economic times on the mysterious "other."

Where do you think are the most serial killers on this Country? Arizona; and you know what? They are not Mexicans either. They were 280 officers ($$$) devoted to just this two cases. What a fiasco for the tough Sherif Joe Arpaio and Loud Dobbs that stated months ago that Undocumented Immigrants bring crime and drainning the public services to his State. Another xenophobic and pathetic lie. ZASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. 280 officers devoted to these two cases. who do you think are paying for those officers? Do we really know the cost of the Sexual predators are incurred or we just blamed undocumented Immigrants because they do not have a political voice?

Online Chat Leads To Sex Misconduct Arrest

POSTED: 6:31 am PDT July 22, 2007
UPDATED: 12:24 pm PDT July 22, 2007

BUCKEYE, Ariz. -- A man from Washington state is accused of flying to the Valley to meet a 13-year-old girl he met in an online chat room, law enforcement authorities said.

Federick Schmidt, 50, was arrested by Buckeye police Saturday afternoon.

Police said Schmidt flew from his home in Tacoma to Phoenix to meet the girl.

He's being held on several counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Officers said the case remains under investigation.

Serial Killer on Jury Selection Begins In Trial.
No Trial Date Set Yet For Murder Charges

PHOENIX -- Jury selection began Monday and opening statements are expected Thursday in the trial of Mark Goudeau, a 42-year-old former construction worker accused of being the Baseline Killer.
Superior Court Judge Andrew Klein asked the first group of 14 prospective jurors whether they recognized Goudeau's name or face. Goudeau was in the courtroom at the time. All but one said no.

For months last year, Phoenix residents were on the lookout for the man in the fisherman's hat. They watched for the pencil-thin mustache, the dreadlocks, the cold black eyes. His face, as shown in a police sketch based on descriptions by those who survived his attacks, became the enduring image of an unprecedented summer of terror during which numerous serial predators roamed Phoenix streets. People were killed and assaulted during separate crime sprees attributed to the Baseline Killer and the Serial Shooters.

Nearly a year later, the man who police believe fits that sketch is going to trial. Goudeau will be the first of the three accused serial predators arrested in 2006 to face a jury.
"There's a significant sense of relief" that the cases are finally going to trial, said Mayor Phil Gordon.

"I don't know if any mayor could prepare themselves for the victims, the randomness" of the attacks, Gordon said. "It could happen anywhere. Unfortunately, it happened here."

Police arrested Goudeau on Sept. 6 as he was coming home from work. They say DNA evidence tied him to the sexual assault of two sisters in a neighborhood park in 2005 -- a case that was part of the police's Baseline Killer investigation.

Authorities later charged him with numerous other crimes, including nine killings, for a series of other attacks between August 2005 and June 2006 also attributed to the Baseline Killer.
DNA Evidence

Goudeau's trial in the sexual assault of the two sisters will see him face 20 criminal charges including kidnapping, aggravated assault and sexual assault.

The DNA evidence that prosecutors say ties Goudeau to the crimes likely will be the main point of contention during the trial.
Defense lawyer Corwin Townsend says he's skeptical of the forensic analysis by police. He said he'd like to conduct an independent test, but DNA technicians used up the original swab that they say ties Goudeau to the crime.Prosecutors argue that while the original swab was consumed, a DNA "extraction" from the police analysis is still available for independent testing.

The two victims also are expected to testify. While both now say they recognize Goudeau as their attacker, neither could identify him in photo lineups before he was arrested and his mug shot shown on TV.
One of the sisters previously identified another man.

Goudeau's wife, Wendy Carr, denies that Goudeau committed any crimes. If he was a serial killer, Carr said she would know."I think I would have noticed something," she said. "We're not just talking about one crime. There would have been a lot of things to notice."
From 2005 to 2006, Carr said her husband showed "no erratic behavior, no bloody clothes, nothing."
A trial date hasn't yet been scheduled for Goudeau's murder charges. County Attorney Andrew Thomas already has decided to seek the death penalty if Goudeau is convicted of those crimes.

Another serial Killers from Arizona.

Phoenix's other two serial killer suspects -- Dale S. Hausner, 34, and Samuel John Dieteman, 31 -- are scheduled to go to trial in April on numerous charges, including multiple murder counts.

Those two were arrested in August at the apartment they shared in Mesa. Police said they acted independently of Goudeau, blasting at people as they cruised through neighborhoods in a Toyota Camry.
Thomas plans to seek the death penalty against Hausner and Dieteman as well.
At one point, police said Goudeau, Hausner and Dieteman were on the loose and attacking people at roughly the same time. Although more than 200 people were killed in Phoenix last year, police said they'd never had to deal with two simultaneous serial killer investigations.

The news last summer of multiple serial predators shocked city residents and put block watch groups on high alert. Schools sponsored self-defense classes and neighbors went door-to-door handing out emergency whistles.
Many chose to stay indoors.
At the investigations' peak, police devoted about 280 officers to the cases. The city offered a $100,000 reward for information that would lead to the killers, and thousands of tips were pouring in.Mayor Gordon said he's confident that the men who put his city on edge are now behind bars.
But Goudeau's wife disputes that her husband was involved. She said she believes police were desperate for a suspect, and they wrongly targeted her husband.

She said it's shocking that the police "will take an innocent man down to wash their hands and say 'We're done. Let's get the tourists back in.'

Drunk Driver ex-convicted twice killed a Mexican Citizen while sleeping on his Motel. Driving under the influence of alcohol more than 5 times (.046)of the limit level when the limit is only .08. Previous twice conviction was from Influence of alcohol while drive an operational motorist vehicle.

Again do you think This case should it be all over the media if he was Undocumented Immigrant or not? Where is Billy o'willy (Rilley)stand on this case? Or I should contact Geraldo Rivera for a Paid Back? I can see again how Hypocrisy, Xenophobia and ranting works in our Country.

Drunk Driver in deadly motel crash charged.

ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) — A man who plowed his sports utility vehicle through a motel, killing a sleeping man, had a blood-alcohol level more than five times the legal limit to drive, authorities said.
Stephen VanVleit, 58, of Anti-go was charged with felony homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, felony homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and drunken driving, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday.

His blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was 0.46%, the complaint said. The legal limit to drive in Wisconsin is 0.08%.
He was convicted of drunken driving in Arizona in 1998 and 2003, the complaint said. The most serious charge filed against him Thursday carries a sentence of up to 25 years in prison if he's convicted.

Jesus Manuel Quirios-Castillo, 26, died in the crash reported around dawn Wednesday at the Good Nite Inn.
VanVleit's GMC Yukon hit a truck in the motel parking lot, accelerated, crashed through a brick wall and the window of Room 28, ran over Quirios-Castillo and then went through another wall in the back of the room, investigators said. The SUV then struck a garage and an auto on a neighbor's property, they said.

VanVleit lived at the motel. Shortly after the crash, his mother told another resident that her son had been at her home at 4 a.m., was very intoxicated and refused to get a ride home from his uncle, the complaint said.

Castillo and his 24-year-old brother, Octavio, were staying in the room because they were scheduled to help dismantle a garden center, sheriff's investigators said.

Octavio Castillo suffered some injuries in the crash, the complaint said.

Motel manager Robert Lindemann said the surviving brother told a motel resident that he and his brother were to leave Saturday for Mexico to see their mother, whom they hadn't seen in six years.
VanVleit was in stable condition at Langlade Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said

Drunk Mother Murdered Baby With Microwave. I can not describe this murder. I have not words for it..it's ashamed that happen in America. Where are those American Family values, Compassion, love, respect for others life's? it's just an innocent child; another gift of God has been taken away from inmoral and selfished people.

DAYTON, Ohio — Investigators looked throughout China Arnold's home to find whatever fatally burned the woman's infant, finally identifying a kitchen appliance, a detective said.

"That microwave was the murder weapon," detective Michael Galbraith testified Thursday at a hearing to determine if Arnold will stand trial on aggravated murder charges in the death of her month-old daughter, Paris Talley.

Arnold, 26, has pleaded not guilty in Paris' death on Aug. 30, 2005. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Galbraith testified that Arnold told him during his initial questioning: "If I hadn't gotten so drunk, I guess my baby wouldn't have died."
But under questioning from defense attorney Jon Paul Rion, Galbraith acknowledged that Arnold told him she did not know how the baby suffered the burns and that she could not recall having anything to do with it.

Prosecutors and police say the infant had high-heat internal injuries but no external burn marks, evidence that led the coroner to conclude the infant had been placed in a microwave. Galbraith said the infant's DNA was found in the home's microwave, though he acknowledged that evidence does not establish who put the baby inside
Rion has said that Arnold took the baby to the hospital after finding her unconscious at home. He said she told hospital officials she did not know what happened to the child.
Rion also said the police's request for an arrest warrant contained inconsistent statements and omitted information.
Rion has asked the court to bar any evidence that was seized, any observations made by police and any statements that may have been made by Arnold after her arrest, which he said violated his client's constitutional rights.

Judge John Kessler ruled that prosecutors can use some of Arnold's statements at trial. He said he would decide later whether other statements and physical

Sex Offenses and Offenders.

I am wonder why Lou DObbs has not been showing this report from Sexual Offenders when he stated that Undocumented Immigrants bring crime, raping kids or it's because he is affraid to develop a new can of worms?.

And I am not playing any racial card on this report just showing facts.

Draws on more than two dozen statistical datasets maintained by the Bureau of Justice Statistics and on data from the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program of the FBI to provide a comprehensive overview of current knowledge about the incidence and prevalence of violent victimization by sexual assault, the response of the criminal justice system to such crimes, and the characteristics of those who commit sexual assault or rape. Findings include the following:

Convicted rape and sexual assault offenders serving time in State prisons report that two-thirds of their victims were under the age of 18, and 58% of those--or nearly 4 in 10 imprisoned violent sex offenders--said their victims were aged 12 or younger.
In 90% of the rapes of children less than 12 years old, the child knew the offender, according to police-recorded incident data.

Among victims 18 to 29 years old, two-thirds had a prior relationship with the rapist.
Four datasets (the FBI's UCR arrests, State felony court convictions, prison admissions, and the National Crime Victimization Survey) all point to a sex offender who is older than other violent offenders, generally in his early 30's, and more likely to be white than other violent offenders।
Just look for yourself this report from four goverment Entitites that working together against Sex offenders from reincident in another serial crime.

You Say Coyote, I Say Coyote, Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off.Enchilada. I am wondering if Lou Dobbs eat Tortilla Soup with Avocado?. Eat Frijoles (Beans) Lou they are good for your Diet. Fat Free so you lose weight. And Lou Dobbs needs take advantage of the Executive Order 13166. Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency.

Because of expected demonstrations by immigrants, Lou Dobbs has been on CNN everyday mewling away about Mexicans. It is clearly beginning to take a personal toll on the last remaining shreds of his sanity as the following interchange with Heidi Collins suggested:

COLLINS: Right. So what is illegal immigration doing to our Country, Lou?

DOBBS: Well, a couple of things it’s doing to our country. You talk about what does it do to us? I mean Ed Lavandera in that report referred to coyotes [pronounced “ky-oats”] as coyotes [pronounced “ky-oat-ehs”] in the Latino language, and then in the stand-up referred to coyotes [pronounced “ky-oats”].

According to Lou, the Undocumented immigrants have forced us to stop speaking American English and to say “ky-oat-eh” instead of “ky-oat.” And before the Mexicans started infiltrating our high-paying busboy jobs and landscaping our lawns, we used to dip our “tor-tih-lah” chips in “guacamohl” and then wash it down with a shot of “tuh-kwil-lah.”

And what is up with the “Latino” language business? Imagine the paroxysms of anger you’d get from Dobbs if somebody started talking about the “Anglo” language. The steam coming out his ears would melt his neck wattles.
Well they are some samples here:

There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins were not invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies, while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write, but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce, and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So, one moose, 2 meese? One index, two indices? Is cheese the plural of choose?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

In what language do people recite at a play, and play at a recital?

Ship by truck, and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? Park on driveways and drive on parkways? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? How can the weather be hot as hell one day and cold as hell another?

When a house burns up, it burns down. You fill in a form by filling it out, and an alarm clock goes off by going on.

When the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible. And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it, but when I wind up this essay, I end it.

Twenty-one reasons why English is hard to learn.
1. The bandage was wound around the wound.
2. The farm was used to produce produce.
3. The dump was so full it had to refuse more refuse.
4. We must polish the Polish furniture.
5. He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7. Since there was no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the
present.
8. A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
9. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
10. I did not object to the object.
11. The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
12. There was a row among the oarsmen on how to row.
13. They were too close to the door to close it.
14. The buck does funny things when does are present.
15. A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
16. To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
17. The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
18. After a number of injections my jaw got number.
19. Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
20. I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
21. How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

English is very strange

Did you know that "verb" is a noun?
How can you look up words in a dictionary if you can't spell them?
If a word is misspelled in a dictionary, how would we ever know?
If two mouses are mice and two louses are lice, why aren't two houses hice?
If Webster wrote the first dictionary, where did he find the words?
If you wrote a letter, perhaps you bote your tongue?
If you've read a book, you can reread it. But wouldn't this also mean that you would have to "member" somebody in order to remember them?
In Chinese, why are the words for crisis and opportunity the same?
Is it a coincidence that the only 15 letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is uncopyrightable?
Is there another word for a synonym?
Shouldn't there be a shorter word for "monosyllabic"?
What is another word for "thesaurus"?
Where do swear words come from?
Why can't you make another word using all the letters in "anagram"?
Why do fat chance and slim chance mean the same thing?
Why do overlook and oversee mean opposite things?
Why do people use the word "irregardless"?
Why do some people type "cool" as "kewl?"
Why do we say something is out of whack? What is a whack?
Why do we say something's out of order when its broken but we never say in of order when it works?
Why does "cleave" mean both split apart and stick together?
Why does "slow down" and "slow up" mean the same thing?
Why does flammable and inflammable mean the same thing?
Why does the Chinese ideogram for trouble symbolize two women living under one roof?
Why does X stand for a kiss and O stand for a hug?
Why doesn't "onomatopoeia" sound like what it is?
Why don't we say "why" instead of "how come"?
Why is "crazy man" an insult, while to insert a comma and say "Crazy, man!" is a compliment?
Why are a wise man and wise guy opposites?
Why is abbreviation such a long word?
Why is dyslexic so hard to spell?
Why is it so hard to remember how to spell MNEMONIC?
Why is it that no word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple?
Why is it that the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary?
Why is it that we recite at a play and play at a recital?
Why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of that song?

Benjamin Louis Shaw, 23, of Provo, is being held without bail in the Utah County Jail for investigation of automobile homicide and driving under the influence.
Police say Shaw consumed several beers before getting behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a traffic-signal pole at the intersection of University Parkway and 550 West. Four of Shaw's friends were in the car at the time of the crash.
Backseat passenger Stephan Sean Peery, 20, of Provo, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 5 a.m., and Ashley Ann North, 20, of Pleasant Grove, was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
Passenger Edward Cody Fairbanks, 22, of Provo, was in the back seat with the two others and was ejected upon impact. He suffered severe head and spine injuries, Provo Police Capt. Cliff Argyle said.
It's possible Fairbanks may be paralyzed from the neck down. More tests need to be done to determine the extent of the damage, however, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in 4th District Court.
Shaw suffered minor knee and back injuries. Another female passenger, 20, of Provo, who was sitting in the front seat, was not injured.
Shaw's vehicle was traveling westbound on 2230 North toward the intersection when it hit the north-west curb, Argyle said. Police said the car was traveling an estimated 70 mph. The driver lost control and the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am slid clockwise in the intersection until it hit the signal pole on the southwest corner, Argyle said.
No other cars were involved.
When police arrived, officers reported that Shaw had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, according to the affidavit.
Using a portable breath test, an officer found that Shaw's breath-alcohol concentration was .195 — Utah's legal blood alcohol limit is .08 — and Shaw told police he had previously had three beers before driving, according to the affidavit. Peery's family, however, said Monday they are not angry at Shaw."We don't want Ben to be facing criminal charges," father Sean Peery said. "Ben doesn't deserve to serve the rest of his life in prison. He's a good kid. He's struggling hard. Stephan's mother and I don't want him to feel responsible because he's not."The Peerys described their son as a great kid who loved sports.
"He loved football; anything with a ball," Sean Peery said. "He loved to make people laugh. He wasn't afraid to admit his faults — and he had some. He was a good kid. We're going to miss him."The five friends in the car had been at a party near Timpview High in Orem where several of them had been drinking, the uninjured passenger in the front seat said.
Shaw and the front female passenger, 20, were wearing their seat belts, but the three in the back were not, Argyle said.
The accident was a shock to family and friends of North, who described her as loyal and hardworking."Her life was exceptional," said Linda Allman, a family friend who has known North for years. "She was an exceptional girl. She always had a smile on her face, despite her troubles."It's a little uncommon for people to be held without bail, said Deputy Utah County Attorney Chad Grunander who handled Shaw's Monday morning bail hearing.
However, because Shaw has a pending felony case in 4th District Court for possession of a controlled substance, Grunander's no-bail request was accepted by the judge.Provo PoliceThe impact from hitting a traffic-signal pole is apparent on the vehicle that crashed Saturday morning in Provo, claiming two lives. A third passenger may end up paralyzed from injuries suffered in the crash. Shaw's previous arrests range from possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and heroin to retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty in 2005 to illegal possession of a controlled substance and no-contest in 2003 to illegal possession of alcohol, according to 4th District Court records.
He also was wanted on a warrant out of Salt Lake County for driving on a denied driver's license,
Argyle said.
