Law is the Law but where are the American Values? Morals? Dignity?.
This is an outrageous action against Hispanic, latinos just for his Irrational and Inmoral values of Joe Arpaio for Political and personal power. That's just Ashamed to see this Happen in America. The land of the BRAVE and the home of the FREE? Takes real courage to leave two innocent, scared, crying children behind while taking away their mother. This is the Change we want for us as Americans? This is the way foreigners want to perceive as Americans? Heartless?, Uncompassionate for others?.
Two young children were separated from their mother, Ciria Lopez, in Maricopa County, Arizona earlier this week when she was arrested for an unpaid traffic ticket. The arrest was the result of an immigrant suppression sweep by Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who gained infamy for reinstating chain gang labor and dressing predominately Latino inmates at his county jail in pink underwear, pink handcuffs, and striped jumpsuits.
Salvador Reza, a local community organizer, captured video of the arrest and the reaction of Mrs. Lopez's frightened children. The video below was featured this morning on The Board, a blog shared by editorial writers at The New York Times. Mrs. Lopez's children are staying with her niece while Mrs. Lopez remains in custody.
Ciria Lopez appeared in court today, facing fines for an unpaid traffic ticket from 2006. Judge James Mapp cleared Mrs. Lopez of all municipal charged after the ticket was paid. Sheriff Arpaio continues to hold Mrs. Lopez under his 287(g) agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Despite criticism from Amnesty International, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Arizona Ecumenical Council, and the Anti-Defamation League, The Fox Reality Channel offered Sheriff Arpaio a reality TV show entitled, "Smile, You're Under Arrest." The show centers around elaborate sting operations run by Sheriff Arpaio to capture people wanted on outstanding warrants.
According to the East Valley Tribune, the focus on immigration enforcement has negatively affected other areas of law enforcement in Maricopa County. Response time to 911 calls has increased, arrest rates have dropped, and overtime costs related to immigration enforcement ran up a $1.3 million deficit over the final three months of 2008.

Congressman Joe Baca Condomned the rethoric language of the Anti Immigrants.
I want to emphasize the great job of Mr. Joe baca has been contribute to stop raids and the rhetoric, Anti Immigrant Language against Latinos specially Mexicans.
Joe Baca was born the youngest of 15 siblings in Belen, New Mexico in a household that spoke little English. He moved with his family to California where he graduated from California State University. In 1979, he became the first Latino elected to the Board of Trustees for the San Bernardino Valley College District. He was elected to the California State Assembly in 1992, where he became the first Latino Speaker pro Tempore, and was elected to the State Senate in 1998. Joe Baca is currently the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
This Video shows in startling detail how Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, and Bill O'Reilly serve up a steady diet of fear, anger, and resentment on the subject of illegal immigration," said Karl Frisch, a spokesman for Media Matters Action Network. "When they aren't demonizing undocumented immigrants with misleading claims, this trio of cable news bullies is advancing baseless urban legends and wild accusations targeting the immigrant community. CNN and Fox News need to answer for this -- failure to do so would be the height of irresponsible journalism and a disservice to the American public."
The report discusses, in detail, two types of myths regarding immigration perpetuated on cable news. The first are the largest and most common myths, such as those about crime and undocumented immigrants, and the costs of illegal immigration in social services and taxes. The second are the urban legends, such as the purported conspiracy to take back the Southwest United States for Mexico and the supposed secret plan to construct a "NAFTA Superhighway" running from Canada to Mexico.

AIG didn't learned the lesson: Continuing they trail of Leasure.

After the federal government approved the third greatest robbery of taxpayers in American history, AIG executives treated themselves to a $440,000 get-a-way at the prestigious St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, California. All this while thousands of families continue to lose their homes and unemployment has creeped slightly above 6 percent. USA Today reported the following: Let me describe some of the -- the charges that -- that the shareholders who are now U.S. taxpayers had to pay. Check this out. AIG spent $200,000 for hotel rooms, and almost $150,000 for catered banquets. AIG spent -- listen to this one -- $23,000 at the hotel spa and another $1,400 at the salon. They were getting their manicures, their facials, their pedicures and their massages while the American people were -- were footing the bill. And they spent another $10,000 for -- I don't know what this is -- leisure dining or Living la Vida Loca......Source: Here

Chinese people isn't the only ones mad at CNN. Latinos specially Mexicans too.
Leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, a coalition of 21 Latino congressmembers, dispatched a letter Friday to Time Warner CEO Jeffrey Bewkes complaining that the network's news coverage is slanted against immigration and has adopted the rhetoric of outspoken CNN host Lou Dobbs.
CHC Chairman Joe Baca (D-CA) and Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) expressed outrage that their appeals to meet privately with CNN have gone ignored, and that their letter to Time Warner's CEO have instead ended up on the desk of CNN's president
We are deeply offended that you did not take the time or effort to respond to a request from twenty Members of the United States House of Representatives and a United States Senator, but instead simply passed the letter along to Mr. Walton,” the lawmakers wrote, according to an article Monday in Roll Call. “It is additionally offensive that you did so on a topic as important and sensitive as your company’s treatment and portrayal of Latinos in this country.”
Time Warner did not return inquiries from the paper Friday; CNN did not speak for attribution. CNN was attacked recently for a comment made by host Jack Cafferty, who compared China's leadership with "thugs and goons."
CNN president Jim Walton wrote the caucus back Apr. 23, saying Time Warner's CEO would not be able to answer their appeals.
“As a matter of long-standing policy, Time Warner’s corporate management never interferes with the editorial decision-making of its news operations,” Walton penned.
Walton offered to meet with the lawmakers as well as any Congressional Hispanic congressmember -- but the caucus isn't happy Time Warner's CEO won't reply.
“It really is a slap in the face, that as many members as there are in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, in the House and the Senate, that we don’t get a direct response,” Menendez said.
Adds Roll Call:
According to Menendez, many of CNN’s news programs have adopted “the language Lou Dobbs uses,” referring to the host of “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” who uses the platform to complain about illegal immigration.
“The news program has become the equivalent of opinion and not information,” Menendez said, asserting that news anchors opt for language describing “hordes” of immigrants crossing borders, and use phrases such as “illegal Alien” rather than “undocumented” when describing such immigrants.
Baca told the paper a meeting with Walton several weeks ago went well. He suggested the network provide another show to counterbalance Dobbs.
“It was a very positive meeting," Baca said. "I said look, there’s a lot of good programs that CNN puts on, and we watch a lot of it. We’re only talking about a specific individual. The other programs are pretty good in terms of the news that they bring out."
